Tara Williamson was raised in Northern California and relocated to Portland in 2007 to pursue music and all the great NW has to offer. A life-long musician, Tara has developed an equal affinity for jazz and folk music and has a unique style of singing/songwriting encompassing both. She credits the beautiful landscape of Northern CA, her folky roots and her obsession with Jazz from the first time she heard it for her unique style.
“I remember that during high school and college, I would spend rainy days in the country listening to jazz, and I’ve realized that in this dichotomy – country and city – lies my identity of sound: Valley Folk Jazz. I like Big Band. I like folky, lilting things. I like Dolly Parton. I think there is a lot of musical integrity to the different forms of these genres and I’d like to think I do them justice.”
Recently, Tara found the love of her life outside of music: Justin Smith. Justin and Tara and looking forward to a life full of music, family and friends and will be married in February 2012.
Tara enjoys performing frequently at Tony Starlight’s Supper Club and Lounge, Orenco Station Grill and is now the female vocalist for the Bureau of Standards Big Band!
